Stephen Lanier is a Managing Partner of Fremantle Capital.
Prior to co-founding Fremantle, Stephen spent seven years working for Southern Company (NYSE: SO) and its
largest affiliate Georgia Power, where he held leadership positions in operations, compliance, governmental affairs,
and the office of the general counsel. He developed corporate and regulatory strategies to support the company’s
evolving generation portfolio, to include nuclear development and the expansion of renewable resources.
Before joining Southern Company, Stephen served in the Central Intelligence Agency during the George W. Bush
and Barack Obama administrations. He began his career as an equity analyst for Merrill Lynch (NYSE: BAC) in
Buenos Aires, Argentina. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Oxford Industries (NYSE: OXM) and
Stonecreek Dental Care.
Stephen earned a B.A., magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University and a M.S. from Georgetown University’s
School of Foreign Service. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and three children.
